DESGign technology
In this quarter of Design technology we are making a promotional t-shirt of our province. We are to wear our own shirt on Indonesian day. My province is Nusa Tenggara Timur, and I made four designs for my shirt. I decided to do my second design with the help of making a checklist. We made this project possible by making the criterias. We can follow our planning in our gantt chart, and organize our designs in our checklist.
process
In my gantt chart, my first task is to sketch out the outlines of my design, which will be done in two periods on Monday , November 4 and Wednesday, November 6. My second task is to wax the batik patterns and the outlines, which will be done in 3-4 periods, and using the time on the weekend.
I was finished with waxing the parts which I will color with paint. Turns out there are changes of plan that affected my gantt chart. I didn't follow the gantt chart anymore because I was done with the sketching and waxing in two periods, which gave me the weekend to do tie-dye. Then I would have to boil the shirt on Monday, 11 November for one period.

WHAT TO IMPROVE?
I have to improve on applying the wax to the batik pattern on my shirt so its not messy, too dark or too light. I have to make my batik neater so the shapes are clear and visible .

Journal week 2 (6 november)
What I did
I continued my batik, and applying the wax on both sides of my shirt. I need to keep up with waxing my batik, and need to be done with it by the end of the 4th week. I need to do tie dye on the weekend so I can boil my shirt and wax the parts again.

Journal week 3 (13 november)
Today I finished waxing my batik on both sides of my shirt. Since I havent tie dyed my shirt, I have to continue with painting my shirt. I painted some parts of my shirt, such as, the text "Nusa Tenggara Timur". I painted it with the color brown. This wasnt'n on my design, but I decided to revise it since it was so plain. I want to use the text so people will know I am promoting NTT.
Journal week 4 (18 november)
This week, I am completing tie-dye and waxing. After I finished waxing my shirt, again, I tied my shirt with rubberbands in a pattern of stripes. I didn't complete the tie-dye completely at school today, since the time wasn't enough. so I will complete the tie-dye outside of school hours, and boil it on wednesday (20 November).
After finishin tie-dye at home, I washed, and boiled my shirt at school. The first step of boiling it is to make sure the remaining dye is gone, so I have to wash the shirt first. Then the teacher helped me put my shirt on a bowl of boiling water, then we wait. After a several minutes, the teacher took out my shirt, and put it on clean cold water. I washed the remaining wax, but the teacher told me to boil it again since the wax was still very thick. After the wax are all gone, I lay out my shirt outside so it will dry.
WHAT TO IMPROVE
I have to improve applying dye on my shirt, because the result at the end didn't really go as planned. My original plan was to have stripes on my shirt, however, the result of my tie-dye does have the stripes, but the colors were too similar that it penetrates to each other. The stripes should aslo be neater.

Journal week 5 (november 23)
This week I finished boiling and tie-dying. The result of my tie-dye wasn't nice because the colors penetrate with each other. After finshing this step, I continue to the next step which is painting. I painted the outlines for the circles, batik, and writtings. The color I used to fill in my triangle batik is red and green. The color for both of the writting on the front and back is brown. I also made a drawing of a komodo using black paint with trees on the back ground.
WHAT TO IMPROVE
I need to improve on making the tie-dye and drawing/painting. After seeing the result of my painting on the komodo, I think it wasn't clear enough. I can improve this by practicing more and being more careful. i also have to improve on tie-dyeing because the tie-dye result was not as planned. I can improve this by repeating the tie-dye for several times, so the color will not penetrate to each other.

comparing between the final product and the sketch.
On my planning sketch, there are 2 tie-dye colors, and there are no words on the front side of the shirt. I modified my shirt to have the “Nusa Tenggara Timur” so the information that I want to inform is more visible. The sketch of my shirt also has some batik pattern on the lower part of the shirt and on the arms of the shirt. On the back side of my shirt there is a word saying “Komodo NTT”. The writing is different on the shirt because I think it doesn't make sense to only say komodo NTT, therefore I made it clearer to “Save the Komodo” because the komodo population is decreasing.
Data collecting
After receiving my survey results, I made a table to collect the data.
